Trusting God
Ruth 2:12 - “The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.”
The words spoken here are from Boaz to Ruth. I encourage you to read their story from the Bible in the book of Ruth. We remember that Ruth is a Moabite, she had married one of Naomi and Elimelech’s sons when they fled Bethlehem-judah in a time of famine and came into Moab. Elimelech and his sons die leaving Naomi, Ruth, and Orpah (who married their other son) widows. Orpah stays in Moab but Naomi and Ruth go back to Bethlehem-Judah. Ruth the Moabite has come to trust in the LORD God of Israel. She is a believer in the one and true God, Jehovah, the Creator, and Redeemer. Boaz not only recognizes Ruth’s outward beauty but her inward faith, love, and devotion for the LORD God. She left behind the false gods of the world she grew up in and she came to trust in the LORD God. She now lived by faith under His wings!
Life, family, marriage is hard. The world we live in is full of false gods and we must leave it behind. We must leave it behind and all the sin therein. We must leave behind our hurts and disappointments in life. The only way to fully trust in the LORD God and dwell under His wings of protection, peace, and comfort is to leave all else behind.
Psalms 91:1-2 - “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
