DON'T TOUCH THAT COMMA:JESUS NOT SITTING DOWN FOREVER "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." (Heb. 10:10-14)The passage is one with which every believer should be familiar for it renders every modern priesthood null and void. Whether it be a Jewish priest offering animal sacrifices or a Roman Catholic priest offering the “continual sacrifice” of the Mass, it’s a waste of time and a blasphemy of the word of God. Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary was eternal. He offered it and then sat down, signifying a completed work. But some Catholic Bibles (such as the New American Bible for Catholics - below) remove the comma after the words “for ever” so that it appears that Jesus is SITTING DOWN forever (“for ever sat down on the right hand of God”), meaning He's not coming back, just remaining in heaven while the Pope runs things forever down here. No, the sacrifice for sins is forever, not the sitting down, which is made clear by Zechariah 14:4 and Acts 7:55-56.
