"Our Powerful God"People are drowning debt, their marriages are on the rocks, and their children are out of control. For all the heartache and sorrow in the world you would think people would be ready to cry out to God. Especially believers.But they don’t, and you have to wonder why. Have they forgotten the power of God? Can I remind you—creating galaxies is not a problem with God. Dropping massive amounts of food out of heaven for a couple million people for 40 years isn’t a problem either. Healing multitudes, parting seas, raising the dead, stopping the sun—all child’s play.Here’s my personal favorite--Moses was frustrated because the people were thirsty and complaining about it, so he brought the problem before the Lord and Lord said, “See that rock over there?” No doubt Moses was thinking—What do you mean look at that rock? We need water! How about peering under this dry blowing sand and find us some water! But the Lord doesn’t want the people thinking Moses discovered an artesian well. He wants them to know and remember that God has power over nature, so he tells Moses—“I’m going to supply all your water for you…and it’s going to come right out of that rock”And that’s precisely what happened…The point is--nothing is too difficult for God, but He’s waiting for us to recognize it and ask for help. He’s done everything possible to prove how powerful he is, and how willing he is to use his power on our behalf. When you pray this morning, you are praying to the God who not only CAN do amazing things, he WANTS to do amazing things.But ya gotta ask.
