Following The Crowd
Exodus 23:2 - “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil;…”
Proverbs 1:10 - “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”
It is tempting to follow the crowd or the “trend” of the day. Even Christians desire to fit in. But what if the crowd or the trend of the day calls for you to compromise what you know is Bible truth?
Somewhere in the life of every Christian he or she will be called upon to make a stand for their faith. Personally, I have faced many crossroad moments where my faith in God was tested. Which way would I go?
“I want to always be found standing on the side of right.” His statement stuck in my heart. It has not always been easy to stand by the decision I made that day to always stand on the side of truth.
In Proverbs 1:10 there are two words to note; “entice” and “consent”. The world will always have much in which to entice the Christian with.
“Entice” literally means wide open. This meaning shows us the way of enticement is always easy to enter. Actually the enticement is harder to walk away from than to step into.
“Consent” means to be willing, to yield, to accept. As a Christian you always have a choice. Be very careful about the choices in life you make. The “trend” of the day is easy to follow but will it mean you have compromised what you know to be truth?
A clean conscience is at peace with self and with God.
