The Bible Study –
Our readings for Saturday, April 20 are Exodus 40:17-38 & Luke 8:40-56.
In the preparation, construction, and rituals for the Tent of Meeting, we see God has formal structure for worship.
We don’t see an atmosphere that leads to a lack of respect for God’s presence.
Today, modern worship in some ‘churches’ resembles a rock concert.
This reveals a lack of reverence for both God and His Word, and a focus on self, rather than what God is giving us in the Divine Service: His forgiveness, Word, His very body and blood in the Lord’s Supper.
The Confessional Lutheran Church follows a courtly style of worship with traditions consistent with the ancient practices of the Christian Church, and offers a liturgy, preaching and teaching based on Biblical truth.
Lutheran hymns and liturgical music are Christ centered, not entertainment focused.
Beautiful and having the benefit of inspired writers and composers throughout the centuries, Lutheran hymns convey the Word of God and Good News of Jesus Christ.
In today’s Gospel passage, the faith of a synagogue official and a woman ill for years leads to miraculous restoration and renewed life.
To the cured woman Christ says, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”
To those who sought healing for a sick child who has died, Jesus instructs: “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”
We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.
Amen.
