The Bible Study – Our readings for Friday, April 19 are Exodus 39:32-40:16 & Luke 8:22-39. The work on the Tent of Meeting is completed. Moses assembles the Tabernacle where God will dwell with His people as they journey through the dessert towards the physical promised land. Today, God leads us to salvation and the eternal promised land of Heaven through His means of grace, His Word & Sacraments. The blood, shed in sacrifices at the Tabernacle, foreshadows the precious, innocent blood of our Saviour, shed for us for the forgiveness of sins. In our passage from Luke, the disciples wake Christ, fearing they’ll perish during a storm on Lake Galilee. Jesus calms the wind and waters, and asks the Twelve an important question, “Where is your faith?” His followers have seen many miracles, but still don’t seem to recognize who Christ is, especially in times of trouble. Today, believers can also fear the things of this world that threaten us. It’s then that we can look to Christ in faith and see our powerful Redeemer who is strong to save, now and for eternity.
