Judgment Delayed Is Not Judgment Averted
King David sinned with Bathsheba and tried to cover it up by murdering her husband, Uriah.
2 Samual 11.
God pronounced judgment upon David.
‘Out of your own household, I am going to bring calamity on you. The illegitimate child will die.
2 Samuel 12:11-14
David repents, God forgives him.
“The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.
TWENTY YEARS LATER
David's firstborn son, Amnon, rapes his half-sister Tamar.
David's third son, Absalom, takes vengeance and murders Amnon.
Absalom is banished, and then he leads a rebellion against David. His rebellion fails, and Absalom is killed.
The moral of the story is that you don't get all confident and prideful, thinking your sin will not exact a cost.
It always does!
