Changed By Christ 2 Corinthians 5:14, 17 - “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again… Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Only Jesus Christ can change a person inwardly and outwardly and bring true joy throughout the conversion experience. A true conversion experience that is “in Christ” daily changes the individual through the power of Him “which died… and rose again.” Rufus H. McDaniel in 1914 published a hymn that I love singing. It is written in the first person singular and when sung from the heart becomes a sort of personal testimony. The first and second stanzas depicts the conversion experience of the one who has been saved by Jesus Christ. (1) “What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart! I have light in my soul for which long I have sought, Since Jesus came into my heart!” (2) “I have ceased from my wand'ring and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart! And my sins which were many are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart!” Stanzas 3-5 capture the benefits of being saved which are hope as we live here, heaven which is to come, and true joy for the journey! (3) I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart! And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart!” (4) There's a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart! And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart!” (5) I shall go there to dwell in that city, I know, Since Jesus came into my heart! And I'm happy, so happy, as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart!” The chorus brings out praise to Jesus for that joy that comes to the soul since that day that Jesus came into my heart! (Chorus) “Since Jesus came into my heart, Since Jesus came into my heart, Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart.” Do you remember the joy you had when Jesus came into your heart?
