Matthew 28:2 - And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
RESURRECTION: The risen Saviour announced to the world his resurrection by an 'earthquake', why? Maybe God needed to send a 'wake up' call (sound) since no one was there to witness his resurrection.
He told them plainly he would rise again, but they didn't believe him. So, the world miss it but God let them know death had no power over him.
Then there was the angel who had rolled the stone away. He just set upon the stone that had been guarded by Roman Soldiers.
I can picture the faces of the Roman Soldiers. First an earthquake, Second the Angel who rolls the stone away like it was a toy and then the Angel jumps up on the stone and WAITS for the disciples to come to the tomb.
Why was God patient with the disciples and left an Angel for them, who without doubt, had 'unbelief'?
The angel is a testimony of God's patience, mercy and grace. They didn't deserve his witness for the resurrection.
This Sunday, don't be that person who only goes to church today and next time will be Christmas.
