Once And For All John 1:29 - “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” It was John the Baptizer’s purpose to introduce Jesus to the world. The Jews in John’s day held to the law of Moses concerning the sacrifice of the Passover lamb in a very strict manner. When John introduced Jesus as “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” he was presenting to Jews and all the world our perfect, without spot, Passover Lamb (see 1 Peter 18, 19) that would soon be sacrificed, not just for the Jew, but all the world! The Bible, and history tells us that Jesus died on a Roman cross. This is a historical fact that no one can deny. But believing in Jesus’s death as a historical fact never saved anyone. The Bible tells us that Jesus died on a cross and shed His blood to take away our sin. Have you ever wondered why no Jew to this day takes a lamb and makes a sacrifice as the atoning Passover lamb? Some would say it is because the Jewish Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70. I believe it is because the sacrifice that Jesus made was once and for all! See Hebrews 7:26, 27; Hebrews 9:17-12; Hebrews 9:26-28). Hebrews 10:10-12 says, “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;” There is no need for anyone, Jew or others, to offer up a Passover lamb. That Jesus did when He offered up Himself! Praise the Lord our atonement is complete! Our sins are forgiven! Thank you Jesus!
