Overcoming Your Fears "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:13)We find in this 41st chapter a message of hope and reassurance. We are reminded that no matter the challenges we face, God's power is supreme. It urges us to place our faith in God's promised Word, and not in the futile and fearful things of the world. In verses 8-14, God tells Israel, whom He has chosen, and He assures them not to fear, for He is with them. He reaffirms His promise to strengthen, help, and uphold them. Even though they are weak, He will make them strong like a new sharp threshing sledge.Years ago, I wrote in one of my Bibles where those two words "Fear not" are bound together some 144 times in the Word of God, and Oh, how sweet they are in the ear of a believer. They will soothe the soul, heal the heart, and bind the wounds of the weary. Yet, we find every year that millions of people in an attempt to help calm their fears will either run to a shrink, reach for a drink, or rely on a drug so they don't have to think.I'm well aware that fear pays a visit to all of us from time to time. But that doesn't mean we have to roll out the red carpet with a welcome mat at the front door and make that temporary visitor feel like a permanent member of the family! The Lord is still crying out to all of us today from that verse in this Psalm, "Fear not, I will help thee." How will we respond? The Christian who can confidently say, "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1a), can then complete that verse and declare, "the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1b)Friends, folks who live in fear are uncertain about many things. They're uncertain about Heaven and Hell because they're uncertain about what they hope in is the right way. Well, the Bible is certainly correct when prescribes faith as the cure for fear. Yes, the Lord says, "Fear thou not." He is your strength and will uphold and help you. Knowing the Lord Jesus, I'm certain about Him! Is your relationship with the Saviour certain? If so, then fear not!
