The Bible Study –
Our texts for Monday, March 25 are Exodus 8:1-32; 9:1-28 & Hebrews 1:1-14; 2:1-18.
The daily readings are longer this Monday as we skipped them yesterday to focus on the Palm Sunday texts.
In Exodus we read of the plagues God sent upon Egypt when Pharoah would not let His people go.
In these Chapters we see a repeated cycle of sin, punishment, feigned repentance, and the recurring sin of opposing the true God.
Pharaoh’s magicians and occult sorcerers can’t help him.
Occult practices, pagan religions, and new age false ‘spirituality’ cannot help people today, but only result in eternal punishment for rejecting the true, Triune God: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. (Exodus 20:3-4)
Salvation is found in no one else except Jesus Christ, our Lord & Saviour. (John 14:6; Acts4:12)
Chapter One of the Book of Hebrews speaks to us of the supremacy of God’s only Son.
This is a time to simply let Holy Scripture speak:
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. . . .” (Hebrews 1:1-3)
It is Jesus Christ alone who is the founder of our salvation, as Hebrews Chapter Two explains:
“For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” (Hebrews 2:10)
The first verse of Hebrews, Chapter Two, delivers a warning: “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.”
Let us heed this warning.
Amen.
