"Music as Worship"
Yes, music is worship, but there’s more to worship than music. Lots more. People refer to the music part of the church service as worship; the music guy is the worship leader and he leads worship until it’s time for the sermon, and then he comes back after with some more worship to close the service. I hate to be a curmudgeon here, but according to the Bible, worship isn’t just something we do in church while singing. Your whole life is supposed to be worship.
In Romans 12:1 the Apostle Paul points out that presenting your body as a living sacrifice to God “is your spiritual worship.” In Ephesians 6:5-8 it’s very clear that our careers—our daily work—is worship presented to God as an offering. Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4 that worship doesn’t occur in certain locations—whether Jerusalem or some mountain in Samaria—it embraces all of life in very location.
Yes, we come together to worship in church on Sunday. But it’s not just singing. Carefully considering God’s truth delivered in a sermon is worship. Responding in one’s heart is worship.
Honoring God at work is worship. Loving your neighbor and doing good is worship. Praying over and eating dinner with your family is worship.
Let’s not looking forward to “doing worship” at church. Let’s live worshipful lives all week, and then "celebrate" it at church.
Just a reminder as the Lord’s Day approaches.

Well said, Jason. As a pastor and music leader, I couldn't agree more
