The Bible Study –
Our readings for Friday, March 22 are Exodus 5:1 – 6:1 & Mark 15:33-47.
In our Old Testament text, Moses asks God why He sent him to the Hebrew people suffering under Pharaoh. The prophet feels he has made the situation worse and has not yet seen the Almighty’s aid.
Yet God again promises deliverance for His people. He will use the stubborn Pharoah in the plan of liberation from physical bondage in Egypt.
In our Gospel text, Christ, who willingly died to pay for our sins, cries out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
The greatest pain for the Son, was the separation from the Father He experienced while on the cross.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2nd Corinthians 5:21)
The innocent Jesus died for the guilty, us, so we could be reconciled to our Heavenly Father.
Christian believers have been liberated from the spiritual bondage of sin, and one day will be welcomed by our Lord into the eternal Promised Land of Heaven.
