This is how they start forest fires using directed energy weapons which are attached to the aircraft, and then they blame it on the heat. Always keep in mind that whatever the public knows about military technology is many decades behind what they really have.

I can't help but to think that weapons like this (as well as many other weapons we don't know about) was developed and paid for with those trillions of dollars that the pentagon "misplaced".
