Mark 2:15 (KJV) And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they FOLLOWED him.FOLLOWED HIM: Yes, Jesus ate with sinners, but why were the sinners there?The scriptures says, “They followed him”. They were not following him just to drink and party. They were eating with him to learn, so Jesus made himself available unto them. Mark 2:16 (KJV) And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?MISTAKE: Of course, those as found within the religious system, only hung out with each other and not the common folks so they accuse Jesus of hanging out with the crowd. However, when Jesus heard this, here's his response:Mark 2:17 (KJV) When Jesus heard [it], he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.NO NEED: The religious will never see the need for repentance! The religious will hate the doctrine of repentance! The religious will misrepresent repentance!Those who recognize their sinfulness will flock to Jesus. Those who refuse to recognize Jesus will always be worried about those who are around Jesus.
