The Bible Study – Our texts for Friday, March 1 are Genesis 24:32-52, 61-67 & Mark 8:1-21. A Godly spouse is truly a gift from our Lord we should honour and cherish. In our Old Testament passage, we read the moving account of Isaac and Rebekah. Faith in Jesus Christ, also a gift from God through the Holy Spirit, leads us to the marriage feast of the Lamb in Heaven and eternal life. In our Gospel passage, Jesus feeds the Four Thousand. Again, the disciples fail to remember they are with God in human flesh, who provides sustenance to those who hunger. How many times do we fail to remember that our Lord, Jesus Christ, is true God and true man? That he provides us all we need for eternal life. Christ warns the disciples, and us: “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. . . .” Jesus cautions us that we’re not saved by what we do, not saved by obedience to the Law, as the self-righteous Pharisees taught. We are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in our Saviour Jesus Christ alone. Amen.
