The Futility of Fear
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
Are you a person of faith or are you a person of fear? You know, it's one thing to be concerned about our problems, but it's quite another thing to worry about them till our heads and hearts are about to explode. Worrying brings about fear, fear that God doesn't give a hoot about me, a fear that God's power isn't sufficient to meet my needs, and a fear that God is tired of bailing me out trouble.
As Paul told us here, that fear doesn't come from God. God is never fearful about anything that pops up and instructs you and to not be fearful as well. Take a good Bible concordance sometime and look up those 2 words "fear not." To be perfectly honest with you I don't know exactly how many times in appears in its various forms in the Bible, but I know it's found plenty of times because I've read and studied the Bible many times. You'd think that God saying it ONCE would be enough, but Christians like you and me often need to have many of those great Bible commands and promises pounded into their heads over and over!
Now, that old devil, along with his demons of damnation, like to go all out and come at us from different directions trying to jam our journey for Jesus with many fearful things. Their main concern is to try and have us believe that God is holding out on us. But Satan is the father of lies who's been whispering his fearful falsehoods in the ears of God's children since Eve took that stroll through the garden.
Yes, the devil is called a roaring lion, ready to pounce and make us his prey. But may I remind you that he had his lying teeth pulled 2,000 years ago at Calvary and then had his mouth wired shut after our Lord's resurrection. He does nothing more than walk about these days peddling his doctrine of deception. to the fearful.
The devil and his godless gang are thrilled when they can, even for a moment, watch us living in fear as opposed to living by faith. But hey to you deceivers from darkness, here comes the Scriptures as our Sword of the Spirit hidden in our hearts reminding us that faith pleases God. Well then folks, it would make sense for me to believe that fear must certainly please Satan.
So, friends, what shall we say then to all this and where are we going to plant our feet from this day forward? Will it be consistently blessed by God because of our faith or continually blasted by the devil because of our fears? You decide!
