50 years ago this week USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) was commissioned. Seen here steaming with ships of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and U.S. Navy in November 2009, the Japan-based command ship has served as the U.S. 7th Fleet flagship since 1979.
