How do you wake up and start your day? I have my morning ritual and many of you probably start your days in a similar fashion. I like to wake up early and try hard to get out of bed right away, although some days that is a near impossibility. Right after getting out of bed, I like to do something that helps me throughout my day: I pray.
During these morning meditations, I like to focus on positive things only. I want to show my gratitude to God for whatever things pop into my mind that morning. Often times it will be a person or idea that has been bouncing around in my subconscious while I slept, and this prayer is a good opportunity to help me realize the things that are important to me. You would be surprised how clear your mind is and becomes after this ritual, which the verse above partially suggests.
At the time that this verse was written, there were many Israelites that worked in the temple. There were many rituals that were important at the time, one of them being sacrifice. What are you willing to sacrifice out of your life or even out of your day, for God? Do you actually make sacrifices to Him?
Every day that we wake up is a blessing. Every breath that we take can also be counted as one. How often do we stop and thank God for these blessings? Taking a moment at the start of my day to make the tiniest of sacrifices in time to thank God for his gifts to me helps set the course for my entire day. This ritual has also helped set a steady course for my life, because it has become almost second nature to me. How lucky am I to stand every morning and thank and praise the Lord? Take the time to stop and tell Him.
Prayer:
Dearest Father, maker of heaven and earth, how wondrous are your creations! I ask that you remind me of this, O heavenly Father, so that I never forget who I shall serve with every voice and breath that I take. With my strength, I pray that you can assist me in leading other followers to you so that we may praise you, as faithful Christians, in union. In the name of your son, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
