It is not related to the Denver Broncos team. While moving a section of the statue around in his studio, part of it fell on artist Luis Jimenez and killed him. Many people hate it. Beware of Blucifer, the Demon Horse of Denver Airport Blucifer, sculpted by New Mexican Artist Luis Jimenez, was unveiled in 2008. The Blue Mustang represents the spirit of the Wild West and actually killed Mr. Jimenez in 2006 when a piece of Blucifer fell on him severing an artery in his leg. Many locals think the sculpture is haunted or cursed with its glowing red eyes but I think it’s pretty awesome and represents Denver perfectly. The blue horse officially named the Blue Mustang and to the locals as Blucifer. The 32 foot high statue of a seemingly blood thirsty bronco was created by artist and sculpture Luis Jimenez and commissioned as public art and installed at the airport in 2008. The horse is supposed to represent the wild spirit of the old American Wild West. The sculpture has also come to represent death, destruction and deluded debates. Blucifer hadn't even been unveiled when the bad vibes began. In 2006, Luis Jimenez died after a section of the 4082.3 kilogram sculpture fell on him and severed an artery in his leg. Two years later when the horse that killed his creator went on display at the airport, the horse's cobalt color, glowing red eyes, and fierce face immediately attracted public ire. In addition to railing against the Blue Mustang's ugliness, Denver residents have voiced concerns that the horse is cursed due to its role in Jimenez's death. Denver airport itself has accumulated some conspiracy theories as well for being so late in completion (16 months) and for some of the runways from the sky appearing to be in the shape of a swastika. People also believe that there may be an underground bunker beneath the airport that was causing for the delay in completion and the rocketing costs.
