SEATTLE TEACHER TOLD STUDENTS IDENTIFYING AS 'STRAIGHT' IS OFFENSIVE “A history teacher at a Seattle high school who previously came under fire for lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity allegedly told students that identifying as "straight" is offensive...” First, one has to wonder why a history teacher is addressing the issue of gender identity in his curriculum. It’s one thing for a teacher to go rogue (many do) but if this is an approved curriculum the blame has to be laid on the administration and curriculum director. That said, the teacher should be fired for disenfranchising the straight (read: majority) students and teaching factually incorrect material.
