The Bible Study –
Our readings for Monday, January 8 are Ezekiel 2:1 – 3:11 & Romans 1:18-32.
The power of God’s Word shines forth today, both in wrath and glory.
In evangelism, we speak the Divine Word of Law and the Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ.
We call God’s Word in the Bible: specific revelation.
We also speak of general revelation. God reveals His presence in part through the visible universe.
The Apostle Paul clearly states this in today’s New Testament passage: “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
The universe did not create itself; it has a Creator – God.
Those who refuse to acknowledge or accept the authority of the Lord become lost in the perversity of human thinking and actions.
Those who think God accepts marriage as anything other than one man and one woman, the model He created for our first parents, should read Romans 1:24-27.
Marriage is God’s institution that He created for us, not one that we sinfully redesign.
Paul is giving us strong words of Law here.
The Law shows us our sins and need for our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We are called to convey both God’s Law & Gospel.
As the Lord told the prophet Ezekiel, “go to the exiles, to your people, and speak to them and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,’ whether they hear or refuse to hear.”
