Hebrews 12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
AUTHOR: Jesus is the author of our faith.
It is not you, not your pastor, and not your church or denomination.
FINISHER: It's Jesus and not you, nor the law, nor your church.
Everything, about salvation, revolves around Jesus!
The 'work' of Jesus at Calvary is often diminished by many churches as they attempt to 'add' to what Jesus finished on the Cross.
Never confuse your salvation with your sanctification.
Salvation is accomplished by Jesus and no one else nor anything else.
Your sanctification is in two parts.
FIRST: Christ set us apart at salvation by the cutting away of the flesh:
=> Colossians 2:11 - In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting OFF the body of the sins of the flesh BY the circumcision of Christ:
The putting off of the sins of the flesh is BY the circumcision of Christ which can only be done BY HIM.
SECOND: Your practical or personal sanctification:
=> 1 Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
This aspect is your daily walk with Christ. You are to know how to 'possess' your vessel (Body). You are to possess your vessel but you do not possess your salvation since Jesus is the author/finisher of salvation.
This aspect of sanctification affects your ability to 'possess' your vessel in honor which means you have daily choices to make to either honor or dishonor God.
Most denominations confuse these two separate aspects of sanctification and treat them as 'one' instead of 'two' which is a major error in their Theology.
You can be confused about some doctrines but the doctrine of salvation, you cannot make any errors.
Jesus is the Author/Finisher of your faith and not you nor your church. If you dare to trespass into 'his' work then you FALLEN from Grace:
Galatians 5:4 - Christ is become of NO effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified BY the law; ye are FALLEN from grace.
