33/65, Sunny, No Rain
One Hundred and two years ago today, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in the year of 1918, all guns of war fell silent and World War I, also known as the First World War or the Great War or the War to end Wars officially came to an end. The global war lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918, in the end, around 4,000,000 soldiers were mobilized and 116,708 American military personnel died during World War 1 from all causes. Over 204,000 were wounded and 757 U.S. civilians died due to military action. In addition, a combined 3,966,171 Russian, French and British troops were killed and 12,596,704 were wounded. On the central powers side another 8,528,831 were killed and 21,189,154 were wounded. Staggering numbers, and through all those succeeding years we have yet to end all wars.
Today pause and remember those that have answered the call and those that we have lost.
Thank a Vet.
