The New Testament is CONTAINED in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is EXPLAINED in the New Testament. The New Testament is CONCEALED in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is REVEALED in the New Testament. The New Testament LIES HIDDEN in the Old Testament. The Old Testament LIES OPEN in the New Testament. The Old Testament PREDICTS a Person. The New Testament PRESENTS that person. "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting". (Micah 5:2) "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."(Gal:4:4-5) The law could point men to the ideal, but lacked POWER to help men keep the laws or to change character. The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (Jn. 1:17) "But as many as received Him to them gave he the POWER to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name." (Jn. 1:12) Celebrate Christmas knowing that all scripture points to the fact that the Son of God became a man to enable men to become the sons of God. Beyond the lights and tinsel, for me, Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas.
