During the ongoing excavations in the center of Pompeii, a mural containing an image thought to be the pioneer of pizza in Regio IX was discovered.The wall painting in the hall of the house next to a bakery with three skeletons nearby depicts a food similar to modern-day pizza with a variety of fruits, without mozzarella and tomato, next to a wine glass placed on a silver tray.
