(SOS) "STRENGTHING OUR SERVIING"
"The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing." (Psalm 34:10)
Why do you think the Psalmist specifies “young” lions? It is for the same reason that Isaiah wrote, "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:" (Isaiah 40:30)
There is a vitality and strength that usually comes with youth. Our minds are flexible and fresh, our body is energetic and resilient, and our spirit is confident and daring when we are young. These are wonderful resources that God gives to us while we are still learning, growing, and maturing.
But even all these advantages will not save them from disappointment or pain in life. The Psalmist writes, "The young lions do lack." With all their physical prowess and boundless energy, they suffer hunger. The strongest, most talented person on earth will not find lasting satisfaction, or avoid painful injury, by virtue of their strength or talent alone.
Then we read those words, "But they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." Even the strongest youth will lack fulfillment and suffer disappointment, but anyone. young or old, will find victory when they seek the Lord. God is able to provide what youth cannot achieve. Remember, God is more than able to give Spiritual Strength to those whose younger years of vitality are now but a memory.
Friends, what about you and me who are on in years? Can we rely on our past strength, our present skill, or our future solutions to deliver us from disabilities of health or distress of hope that may come are way? No, but we CAN look to our Perfect Saviour to provide the strength to do what He knows we can accomplish for Him.
