On this day in 1986, Iron Maiden released "Stranger In A Strange Land," the second single from their sixth studio album, Somewhere In Time (Notice that the clock on the back wall reads 11:58...Derek Riggs' homage to "Two Minutes to Midnight"). The song is about an Arctic explorer who gets frozen in ice after meeting his demise, only to be discovered a hundred years later...perfectly preserved. Adrian Smith has stated that he was inspired to write the song after talking to explorers who had a similar experience of uncovering a frozen body! π€ β
