1 Corinthians 1:30 "But => of him <= are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"
OF HIM: I'm 'in' Christ because 'of' him (Jesus) and not because 'of' me, or 'of' my church, or 'of' my knowledge or works that I do for God and the church.
Jesus is 'made' unto us: Wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Since Jesus is 'made' unto us redemption, then you can't redeem yourself through anything else but Jesus. Never confuse salvation with your personal walk 'after' salvation.
This is were the devil has succeeded in fooling the world! He wants to corrupt salvation but making it a process of personal deeds instead of the work of Jesus at Calvary. There is no work that I could ever do to achieve salvation or to be worthy to be compared with his work of redemption. To be redeemed is by one: Jesus and not by two: Jesus and you.
Therefore, a Church is not 'made' unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption.
Church is to 'teach/instruct' and provide a place for worship to help you to understand God. Therefore, it can never be 'made' unto us a means for salvation.
Now, are you trusting in the Saviour or a church?
Are you trusting in the Saviour or your abilities/rituals?
Are you trusting in the Saviour or are you just familiar with God and his church?
Being an active religious person is NOT the same as being 'in Christ' -- "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us..."
Today, the greatest sin that sends people to hell is not murder, adultery, drunkards, etc., but the people who are satisfied with being 'familiar or religious' with God which gives them a false sense of salvation.
Now, If you are only familiar with God and the Bible in the WRONG sense, then it will also produce a corrupt view of salvation, church, the Bible, and the Christian life.
If you are 'made' in him then you realize salvation belongs to the Saviour, and not to a denominational view or system of religious lingo, or works.
If you are NOT 'made' in him, then you will think salvation can be earned and belongs to 'you' as you replace the Saviour with your church, your views, your works, your religious activities and rituals and then you will be star struck with yourself as you become more religious instead of just learning how to be 'made' in him.
