"Blessed With His Blood-Stained Hands"
And he led them out as far as to Bethany, AND HE LIFTED UP HIS HANDS, AND BLESSED THEM.
And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen." (Luke 24:50-53) (caps mine)
Take a moment and think back to Calvary. Stay there awhile and see the lowly Galilean with His hands outstretched on that cursed tree. With a loving gaze, behold our Lord's hands with the nails ripping His flesh. The cure for sin's pangs, the cleansing from sin's pollution, and the condemnation because of sin's penalty are seen in those bloody hands. Those outstretched Hands of His are the Hands soaked with "The Blood of Redemption."
Now look at our risen Saviour here in the above passage of Scripture just before He ascends to Heaven. See Him there with His hands held high. Embrace Him as the victorious One who overcame the power of death so that we might live a life that's ever-abundant because of Him, a life that ever-abides only in Him, and a life that's promised to be everlasting with Him are found in His blessed Hands. Those outstretched hands of His are the Hands filled with "The Blessings of Rejoicing"(v.50).
With His blessing now given, Jesus was taken up to Heaven, and the disciples worshipped Him returning to Jerusalem with great joy and were continually praising and blessing God (vs. 51-53). And from Heaven, He ever lives interceding for you and me.
Friends, Praise God for His Bleeding Hands of Redemption and His Blessed Hands of Rejoicing. For the work of our Lord's hands hath given us the joy of victory!
