Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST. RIP? It is non-Biblical statement made by many without realizing it contradicts all that is in the Bible. To "rest in peace" is only when you are alive and not dead.To make that statement, at a funeral or after a person dies, means you think there is no living soul and that the person is still in the body that is dead. When you die, you => 'leave' <= the body. The body has no rest since it will return to dust just as God says in the Bible:Ecclesiastes 3:20 - All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. The body is said to 'sleep', which means it is awaiting the resurrection. At the resurrection, the body and soul are rejoined. For the Christian that happens at the Rapture and at that time we receive the Adoption: Romans 8:23 - "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, WAITING for the ADOPTION, to wit, the redemption of our BODY". Notice the Adoption is future, we are still waiting for it, and that the adoption is the: Redemption of our body that happens at the resurrection, not at salvation. For the Lost Person, his soul is in hell and his body will be resurrected at the end of the 1000 year reign when there is the Great White Throne Judgment for satan, the devils, and the lost.In both situations, the body, before their resurrections are said to be sleeping, not resting which is a big big difference.John 11:11 - These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of SLEEP. Vs 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he SLEEP, he shall do well. Vs13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his DEATH: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of REST in sleep.
