"For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye." (Zechariah 2:8)"The apple of his eye", in its various forms, is found 5 times in the Old Testament.1. We see it first in Deuteronomy 32: 9-10, "For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye."2. In Psalm 17:8 we read, "Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,"3. Proverbs 7:2 we hear, "Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye."4. In Lamentations 2:18, Jeremiah, the weeping prophet writes, "Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease."5. Finally, we see in the above verse I posted, ""For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye." (Zechariah 2:8)In Zechariah 2:8, the Lord was being protective of His people. So, this was a warning, something like, harming God’s chosen people is similar to striking the pupil of His eye. Any nation in the past, whether it was Babylon during Zechariah’s day, or Magog in the future (Ezekiel 38–39), was and will be attacking God’s eye when they attack His people. Friends, Zechariah 2:8. and the other verses I cited should be important to any political leader in the world to warn them of exactly what Israel means to almighty God! At all times, and especially during these trying times, let us continue to pray for Israel, "The apple of His eye."
