Titus 2:8 (KJV) Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the CONTRARY part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.CONTRARY: A contrary spirit is usually a person who doesn’t accept ‘sound’ speech.SOUND DOCTRINE: Titus 2:1 (KJV)But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:Sound doctrine produces sound speech which results in your ability to win when you wrestle the flesh. The flesh will always deceive you. The flesh, especially if it has had control of your life, will always fight against the Spirit that desires to be sound in speech/doctrine. Therefore, there is always a struggle after your salvation. You will learn the flesh doesn’t like change:* Instead of sleeping on Sunday morning, I need to get up and go to church. You wrestle with yourself. * Instead of buying that new fishing pole, I need to tithe. You have to wrestle with yourself. * Instead of watching T.V. I need to make time reading my Bible. Again, you wrestle with the flesh. This will also happen with other parts of your spiritual life and even what you had right in your earlier years of your Christian life might not be so easy to keep right later in life. This is what the picture means. The flesh is not redeemed. God’s saved the soul not the body. Your body isn’t redeemed until after death when God resurrects your body and gives you a glorified body. Until then, you wrestle with the flesh. So, whose winning; the flesh or the Spirit?

So true we don’t realize how bad we lose against the flesh
