Morning all. I am going to address a few things here about the "Friends Only" feed change, the reasoning for such, as well as address those that are not happy with this change that are stating things that are completely incorrect and talking on subjects they couldn't possibly ever understand. First and foremost, Wimkin is a business. Some of you simply take that fact for granted. Wimkin is free and has been, brought to you by myself, my 90+ hour work weeks for 3 years, and on mine and now, a few investors' dollars. Wimkin costs about $20,000.00 per month to run, and that does not include development costs nor payroll. That is just infrastructure cost. That also doesn't include the hundreds of thousands of dollars we have paid and continue to pay to fight big tech and the government from shutting us down due to the fact we let you say what you want, when you want. Wimkin is the only pure free speech site left anywhere today. There are none others like it, and most likely never will be. Those stating us converting to a friends and followers only feed is "selling out" or detrimental to freedom of speech are blatantly wrong and quite frankly, ignorant to anything that free speech term means, especially when it comes to social media. Those stating we are doing this for money are also just as ignorant and quite frankly, have a warped idea of who I am, and they themselves are probably not who they actually present themselves to be. Most of those speaking these blatantly false conjectures have never done one simple thing to keep this platform alive in existence. Rather, they just expect this platform magically to be here for them in the manner they want it to be, without them putting in a single iota of effort to build it or keep it alive. Hell, they won't even put in an effort to build their own friend / follower base yet expect us to. 1) Friends / Followers Only Feed: The only thing we are changing here is the fact users will have to add pages, users and groups that they want to see content from. This will not affect live videos, our videos under the video tab, nor Reels. Those will ALWAYS be available to all users. This simply affects how feed content is shown and delivered to your main feed. This is the EXACT SAME basis for every other social media site in existence, and has been since day 1 on all the same platforms we're now being incorrectly compared to. You've used them and continue to use them and started on them from nothing. You don't see content on Facebook unless you join a group, follow a page or friend / follow a person. You don't see content on Twitter unless you follow that person. You don't see content on Truth Social unless you follow someone. Get it? Got it? Good.2) Why are we changing this one simple aspect? Simple answer: Relevance, survival and ultimately, growth.Quite frankly, thousands of you ask why we don't have major influencers here. That reason is with an open feed, content is posted at incredible speed and people simply just do not see it. When you have 200 posts per minute in a feed, how long and far will you scroll to read? We lose users daily due to them thinking we're censoring them just because their content isn't seen since we have an open feed. I'm tired of that. Reference Tucker and others that check out Wimkin but won't stay since it is not friends or follower based. Influencers want paid to be on social media or they want their content to be viewed and reacted to in abundance. It is again, social media 101. An open feed does not give us a single chance to attract influencers without paying them to post because their posts will dissappear too quickly in an open feed that moves 1,000,000 miles per hour. A friends and followers feed will provide that chance to attract influencers without paying them to join or post. Are you going to pay the influencers to join here? I doubt it. You don't even pay us yet will cry so loudly about a simple feed change on a FREE service that legitimately fights for you against those that wish to censor you. Influencers are necessary to this platform's existence and growth. 3) "Bye Freedom of Speech" Those saying this change is against freedom of speech is just flat out ignorance. Changing to friends only feed again, gets what you say SEEN and HEARD MORE, not less. If you do not understand that, you probably do not belong here and should probably stop calling yourselves Patriots. I have personally paid tens of thousands of dollars to fight the app stores to bring you Wimkin free of censorship. I have paid tens of thousands to fight Google and other big tech giants for you to have a voice. I have paid tens of thousands of dollars to defend YOU from the USDOJ and the House Select Committee on January 6th. My work weeks range from 80-100 hours. I have paid nearly $1,000,000 to keep this platform free of charge for you. I have dedicated my life to this platform and in extension, YOU. I have sacrificed friends, family, relationships and personal health. FOR YOU. Nobody fights for freedom of speech harder than I and questioning my motives in bettering this platform to advance it forward is the ONLY instance here that is detrimental to free speech. You, yourself, put in a little effort. Add some people. Like a page or two. Join a group. Stop feeling so entitled while mislabeling me as a sell out and yourself as a Patriot. I've put in my time.
