https://zoom.earth/storms/lee-2023/11am Update on Tropical Storm Lee - Lee is approaching hurricane strength with winds of 70 mph and is expected to become a hurricane later today. Lee is expected to undergo rapid, if not, explosive intensification and will likely be the strongest hurricane this year. Lee is forecasted to become an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane with winds of 150 mph by Saturday morning. There are signs that Lee will become a category 5 hurricane this weekend with several computer models, but the NHC will remain conservative with their forecast until that confidence is much higher.Let's talk track. The track for Lee will continue to push toward the west-northwest and after the forecast cone ends, there are still signs that this will curve toward the north, northeast. However, that does NOT mean we cannot take our eyes off of it. As of right now there is no current threat to Florida. There are plenty of signs with forecast models that it does curve. But this is still several days out and there can and will possibly be changes. There already have been changes with the models with Lee trending a tad farther south and west with a stronger ridge.Still, I am not concerned with Lee based on the curve signs, but that doesn't mean I'm not watching it. Keep a close eye on the forecast these next few days and I'll update every day to keep you informed on what the storm is doing and if there are any changes in the forecast that requires our extra attention.
