"For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens." (Psalm 89:2)
The Scriptures abound with promises telling us that God is faithful. Since we live in a world which is constantly changing and one where we face many disappointments along the way, it is reassuring to be reminded of the faithfulness of God.
One definition of the word faithful is “worthy of trust”, and that certainly applies to God! He has repeatedly proven that His Word is sure and that He can be trusted.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). The Bible also tells us that He is holy (1 Peter 1:16). Therefore, it's impossible for Him to declare anything but Holy Truth or make any promise that will not be kept. It may seem to us at times that God has forgotten us. David experienced such doubt but then admitted he had spoken in haste (Psalm 31:22).
We need to remember that God works on His own timetable, and just because we do not see immediate evidence of His promise being fulfilled, that doesn't mean He has forgotten nor forsaken us.
Folks, no matter how black our past was, or how bleak our present may seem, our future shines bright as we joyfully continue on that straight and narrow Road of Redemption praising the Lord knowing that He stands faithfully alongside every promise He ever made!
In spite of our sufferings and trials, we can have confidence that He will be with us and even use the difficulties to teach us and draw us closer to Him. Because of God’s faithfulness, you and I can have glorious expectations. For He will never let anything separate us from Him, for we are kept by His Power (1 Peter 1:5).
Friends, having begun a good work in us, He will not abandon us, but will bring all things to fruition that day when we will be safely Home in Heaven with Him. Let's lift our voices Heavenward today and proclaim, “Great is Thy faithfulness.”
