Romans 8:9 "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." We are not a believer if we don’t have the Holy Spirit living within us. For one reason, we can never become like Jesus progressively and ultimately without the Holy Spirit making us more like Him II Cor. 4:10-11. Then there is no way to defeat the corrupting influences of flesh without God’s spirit living in you. This scripture tells us we don’t get the Holy Spirit on the installment plan. You don’t get a little bit, then get more when you have some experience. You either have the Holy Spirit, or you don’t. The Holy Spirit refrains us from sin, and its temptation and releases us to be more like Jesus through His power working within us as the Spirit testifies that we are a child of God. If you are never convicted of something the Bible calls sin is wrong and not right, you need to repent and come to God through Christ. As believers, we are not to grieve or quench the Holy Spirit from making us more like Jesus as we let Him control our lives. Let God work in you through the Holy Spirit as a believer as we yield to Him or trust in Christ as Saviour to start that work today. --- Dan Nelson
