Sylvester Stallone was born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone in the Hell's Kitchen #OnThisDay in 1946. The elder son of Francesco "Frank" Stallone Sr and Jackie Stallone. His Italian father was born in Gioia del Colle, Apulia, Italy and moved to the U.S. in the 1930s.Stallone gained worldwide fame with his starring role in the smash hit 'Rocky.'The idea for the Rocky movie came from Stallone himself. Stallone wrote the script for Rocky and is credited as the screenwriter of the film. The story goes that Stallone was inspired by a boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner in 1975. Wepner, a relatively unknown boxer, managed to last 15 rounds against Ali – one of the greatest boxers of all time. This underdog story resonated with Stallone and sparked the idea for the Rocky character. Stallone reportedly wrote the script in a three-day burst of creativity and pitched it to various studios. Eventually, United Artists picked up the script, and the film was made on a relatively low budget.
