God’s Super Food for Children I Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Paul told Timothy he had all the background to be used of God because, from a child, he presumably had trusted in Christ as Saviour through the Scripture. He commended him for that, knowing that his Mother Eunice and Grandmother Lois had instructed him and brought him to accepting Christ and having salvation II Tim. 1:5. Please take a look at what brought Timothy to his conversion. It was through the holy scriptures that they taught him, and he had made it his treasure. It was like a superfood a child can have to grow up wisely, morally, and with tremendous spiritual health. Through it was the stepping stone to being used as a young man for God in the tutoring Paul gave him. Paul said it was as a child he learned this, proving children are capable of faith in Christ when they understand they are sinners and that Jesus died for their sin so that they place faith in Him and His atoning work. Children in many homes today are malnourished in the Scripture. They don’t even know the basic stories of the Bible. The longer they put off knowing the Scriptures, the more trouble they will get into as they grow up. I am sure one big characteristic of many criminals today is that they are deficient in the Word of God. Parents must teach the Scriptures to children, get them under its preaching, make it a priority in their life, and set the example of knowing, instructing, and living by the Word of God. Timothy’s mother and grandmother did this with him, and it is crucial we do that with our children to keep them from destroying their lives and helping them live by God’s will for their lives they can discover in the Scripture that brings them to Christ and all He can do in their lives. --- Dan Nelson .
