Something to ponder: stones are God made, bricks are man made And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests.Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. --- 1 Peter 2:5 What are the “spiritual sacrifices” that we offer to God? When sacrificing an animal according to God’s law, a priest would kill the animal, cut it in pieces, and place it on the altar. Sacrifice was important, but even in the Old Testament God made it clear that obedience from the heart was much more important (see 1 Samuel 15:22; Psalm 40:6; Amos 5:21-24). God wants us, his “holy priests,” to offer ourselves as living and spiritual sacrifices---daily laying aside our own desires and following him, putting all our energy and resources at his disposal, and trusting him to guide us. --- Life Application Study Bible notes PRAYER Loving Father, how I thank You that I have been accepted in Christ.
