"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10:13)Oh, how soothing to the soul are those three words: "God is faithful." As Bible believer’s this is our anchor. This is indeed our security! Without this promise, His comforts wouldn't heal us, and our hope would give up the ghost. We are at times shaken to pieces by unbelief and filled with tormenting doubts. We feel nothing of the presence, power, or comforts of the Holy Spirit. Then we sense that faith, hope, and love seem to have been extinguished. We have no power, and scarcely any desire to pray. We feel only hardness, fretfulness, and misery. We are tempted by Satan, and harassed with tormenting thoughts, so that we feel tired of this miserable life.Ah, but God is faithful. He cannot deny Himself. He never fails us; but appears again and again, restoring us to peace, hope, and satisfaction; and our most miserable times are often followed by unspeakable joys. We are raised from that grave of gloom and hear those words akin to what Lazarus heard on that long ago day, "Come forth."The Scriptures are opened up to our understanding again, His promises are applied to our hearts, and we are filled with the comforts of the Holy Spirit. Then our souls melt before God with praise, and we kneel before Him with thanksgiving. We can only admire and adore the riches of His all-sufficient grace.Friends, be it a day of discouragement, or in the darkest of night, remember, "GOD IS FAITHFUL."He will not His great self-deny,For our God of all truth can never lie.True to His word, He gave His SonTo die for sins which men had done.Blessed comforts He will never revoke,Nor a single promise He ever spoke.
