This boy had foundered a while ago. We kept calling farriers and they always managed to trim him like a regular horse with no issues. Today, we had a farrier out and he FINALLY got a founder trim which he needed badly. What is the difference? Founder trims the heels are low and toes are short. This stops the laminae from being pulled away from the hoof wall. Heels are low to keep pressure off the coffin bone.
