Acts 11:5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:Peter was praying when God prepared him to extend the gospel to the Gentile world. If we want to be used of God to reach lost people, we had better emphasize prayer in our lives and ministries! We should be a praying people. We should be praying churches, if we are going to be soul-winning and evangelistic churches. Let's think on THE PLACE OF PRAYER IN SOUL-WINNING.Before the powerful meeting in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost when thousands were converted, people were praying. Nearly all great revivals have been accompanied by exceptional praying. WE SHOULD PRAY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE UNSAVED. Paul did. The Bible says in:Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.Let's pray for the Spirit of God to work in their hearts; let's pray for situations to change (God can shake up unsaved people from their false securities); and we should pray for saints to witness to them (Mt. 9:38).Additionally, WE SHOULD PRAY FOR POWER FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNCONCERNED.Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.Paul asked the Ephesian saints to pray for him that he might be bold in his witness, in Eph. 6:18-20. We need power to confront people; we need power to conquer and overcome the devil's obstacles; and we need power to convey the truth in love!Third, WE SHOULD PRAY FOR POSSIBILITIES FOR THE UNREACHED (Col. 4:2-4). The Bible calls this opportunity "a door of utterance." Let's pray for new fields of evangelism, new forms of getting out the gospel; and new fruit for the glory of God!Fourth, WE SHOULD PRAY FOR A PERCEPTION OF THE UNKNOWN (Jas. 1:5). May God show us people who are unknown to us who are hungry (like Cornelius in Acts 10); people who are hurting; and people who are hell-bound! Finally, WE SHOULD PRAY FOR PARTNERS WHO ARE UNASHAMED (Mt. 9:37-38). We need coworkers who are not ashamed to groan in prayer; not ashamed to give toward the work; and not ashamed to go where the lost people are, with sincere tears and a strong, clear, courageous testimony of the gospel of Christ (Rom. 1:16).Let's PRAY, and let's GO!
