Hebrews 12:15 (KJV) Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;
BITTERNESS: Beware of the ‘root’ of bitterness.
Roots are below ground. But when the roots begin to push upwards, above the soil, they become a branch that bears fruit.
The longer they are expose above the ground the deeper their roots grow so that the branches can bring forth fruit.
Now, what does that mean to your spiritual life?
If you harbor “ A “ root of bitterness, it will not just stay below in the soil. It will find a way to grow upwards into a branch for it to bear fruit for all to see.
Your bitterness, that is deep in your heart, will sooner or later grow. In the beginning, your bitterness will just be thoughts (root).
Later your bitterness will become various sorts of words ( a root that has raised above the soil) that affect those around you.
Then your bitter words become actions (a root that has branched out) that affect those around you.
Consequently, the root of bitterness is no longer just a root. It’s a full grown tree that bears fruit in every aspect of your life.
Once this happens, all notice it but the person who is bitter.
Then, it’s natural for them to claim others have hurt them without them every realizing they’ve been hurting others the whole time.
Examine your heart for any roots of bitterness before it’s too late.
If not, your root will grow and as it grows, your bitterness will overtake you in various forms that lead you away from God and Church.
