"Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;" (1Timothy 6:17)
Pay careful attention to those words: "who giveth us richly all things to enjoy." Now let me ask you, are you enjoying those great riches that our Saviour lovingly pours out as He wakens you with the dawning of each new morning? You and I, who have been born again, are indeed His marvelous works and a masterpiece of wonder.
Yet, moment by moment we still need to come before Him with our empty vessels that are in desperate need of filling. But we can rest assured, whether it be at sunrise or at sunset, our little cups shall be running over as He restores our souls. Oh, that's when we can gladly declare, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."
The Son of God, dressed in such radiant countenance, shines brighter for us than the very sun He created. By the word of His Power, our little Red Seas we encounter part so that we may continue our journey onward to an abundant life He promised and one that overflows with the milk and honey of His divine leading.
His Heavenly Food, unlike that manna of old, is always provided day by day from His Word of Truth and accomplishing what it does best by feeding and strengthening us wherever we may be camped.
He is our Rock; the Rock that delights in offering the water of eternal life from the wounds of His bleeding head and His smitten side. Ah, but as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, our great intercessor shall never again die for the sins of the world, and His reign of mercy to His children shall likewise never cease.
Who would dare say, when they boldly came before His Throne of Grace and into the joy of His Presence by prayer, that they were not treated like His beloved friends? Who has ever risen from His table of nourishment and not feasted on such a banquet that was and is so vital for their life and growth? Who can number His daily benefits? Why, they are as countless as the sands found on every seashore. Even the stars, which are too numerous to mention, pale in comparison when standing alongside His sufficient grace and infinite glow.
Then folks, tell me, why at this eleventh hour, do we stand around all the day idle in our own selfish little vineyards without a word of praise and thanksgiving to the One who has lavished upon us such undeserved treasures day after day?
Friends, John 15:13 tells us, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." On this Memorial Day, as we remember those who died serving, and those who are yet serving. may we never forget the One Who lived a life of service, died, and rose again from the dead and Who now lives forever, For the Lord Jesus declared it to be so, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." (Revelation 1:18)
