Ugliness or Wisdom with the Tongue James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. The damage of the tongue is one of the most terrible effects that will destroy relationships if not your entire life. It is full of the world and its iniquity because the world influences us as to how we talk. Sometimes you can tell who people have been around by how they talk. But it goes beyond that effect. He said the very fires of Hell fuel the tongue. The devil is a liar and hates the truth. He gets people to lie with their tongues and do stuff according to his nature. We can lie, cheat, steal and even kill because of the Hellish effect of the tongue. It affects the body because the tongue is the source of what the rest of the body does. It controls the actions of the entire body. Just like a wildfire that spreads and runs its course, so does the tongue. It leaves a path of destruction. Broken relationships and heartache are it's after effects. We must learn to praise God and people more than we cut them up. Praise must flow from our lips and become our habitual practice. God controlling the tongue and using it properly is the only way it can be conquered. It is difficult to control the tongue but with God all things are possible. --- Dan Nelson
