For the past 3 years, the global financial system has been busy converting its international payment systems to the new ISO 20022 banking standard.
- ISO 20022 is a XML based standard. Stellar allows for more data and data structures more complex than SWIFT-FIN/MT and DTAZV.
- Release month is set for this year 2023. ISO 20022 compliance will start during this month.
- The transition for banks to advance towards this new digital money system will continue until it becomes mandatory in November 2025.
