Prov. 13:9 "The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out."
The Christian life is a marathon, not a 100-yard dash. God put a light in you that will not burn out when you come to Christ. It will get brighter and brighter the longer you walk with the Lord. We must not get discouraged when no one sees it except God. He is the greatest of audiences. When He sees it, He will expand the brightness. So the longer we walk with the Lord, we will get brighter and brighter until we enter that place where the Lamb is the light of the city.
The wicked; however, have a short fuse. People may notice for a little while but the totality of the way of the wicked is hard and full of incidences because of sin that blows the light out that they try to keep lighting. Eventually, God will blow their light out, and they will not be able to get it lit again. They are headed for everlasting darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth if they do not turn to Christ. Their outlook is bleak, and their future is as dark as can be.
Burn bright for the Lord, and you will walk in His light. He will continue to give you those opportunities to shine for Him so that people can find their way out of the darkness to God and have His everlasting light in them of eternal life.
