"Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me." (Isaiah 44:21)What tenderness, mercy, and love are found in the last sentence of this verse regarding Israel: "O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me." Why? Because God had formed them to be His servant. When it comes to you and me, well, we've known what it's like to have good friends forget us, relatives to fail us, and sometimes we even fear our God has forgotten and failed us as well. Yet, we read here that He assures us that we too, like Israel, shall never be forgotten by our Lord Jesus Christ. Many years ago, I remember reading a comical story about a city fella who was visiting relatives on a farm. He watched as the farmer gave a whistle, and his dog herded the cattle into the corral, and then latched the gate with its paw. The man said, "Wow, that’s some dog you've got. What’s its name?" The forgetful farmer thought for a minute, then asked the man, "What do you call that red flower that smells good and has thorns on the stem?" "A rose?" "That’s it!" The farmer turned and yelled to his wife. "Hey Rose, what's the name of our dog?"Now folks, God remembers our names and they're written in His Book. Our Heavenly Father cannot forget us since Jesus ever pleads for us. Our Saviour is seated right there beside Him praying for us, because we are the objects of His constant care and compassion being that we are people who are always in need of His help. And mark this down somewhere so you won't forget it: Since God cannot forget our names, He will never neglect our needs. Even though we are assured our God will never forget us, we can find no satisfaction until the Holy Spirit humbles us, empties us, and exalts Christ before us, showing us the pardon, the peace, and the protection, which Jesus wrought for us by His death, His resurrection, and His constant intercession.Friends, there is only one thing that God is said to forget, and that is our sins; but He is always mindful of His promises to His children. He will not forget the tough circumstances which we come up against, or our needs which He can supply, or the prayers we plead to His ever-attentive ear, and Praise God, the work we have shown to others in His name.
